A Huge Work Force

In dark times, God’s light shines brightest. Jesus sits in the place of the poor. He sees their struggle and is calling us to respond to their pain. His Church is rising to answer that call, working together to ignite movements of Christ-centered development around the globe with a vision to alleviate poverty and plant the church in a million villages. Hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of CHE workers around the world are using the CHE strategy to engage these communities. With unwavering commitment to the call of the Savior, they are making disciples while lifting their communities out of cycles of poverty and disease.

This growing movement is backed by workers and volunteers from churches, mission agencies, and Christian non-profits around the globe. In addition, the network draws from the largest pool of motivated volunteers on earth-the Church universal. Collated data from reports by members of the CHE Network indicate there are currently 32,336 workers in 4,255 communities. These numbers are very conservative. Most members in the network have not reported statistics about their work, and there are many more organizations that have employed the CHE strategy without joining the network.

God has uniquely positioned the Global CHE Network to lead a global effort. He has brought together an army of CHE workers with capacity like never in history to serve the poor and marginalized, and a commitment to work together to do it. The achievement of our million-village vision is not unrealistic but does require that we, the church, rapidly scale up our activities.

In the sections that follow, we will describe how you and your ministry partners can catalyze Christ-centered movements that multiply disciples while lifting communities you serve out of poverty.

The Pledge

We believe that the Gospel of Jesus is good news to the poor.
We hear Jesus saying, “Whatever you do to the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you do to me” (Matthew 25:40). Jesus feels their struggle and calls us to respond to their pain.

Therefore, we commit to support efforts among the poor
that make disciples, address the root causes of human suffering, lift communities out of cycles of poverty and disease and multiply that success to communities around.
